Threats Remove Atheist Billboard

Atheism Cincinnati BillboardSo what would Jesus do? One could say this isn’t very godly or christianlike, people threatening the owner of a billboard that leases out the billboard space to advertisers.

This actually happened in Cincinnati. According to the article:

“The United Coalition of Reason paid $3,875 to place a billboard on 12th Street, one block south of Liberty Street in Over-the-Rhine Tuesday.

The billboard, facing southbound Interstate 71, reads: “Don’t believe in God? You’re not alone.” It lists the Cincinnati chapter’s web site.

The organization said it was informed Wednesday that the unidentified landowner had been threatened over the billboard.”

So another billboard to reach out to those that might not believe in a god, to tell them that they are not alone, had to be moved because people didn’t threaten the billboard advertisers or group that paid to have it placed on the board but instead threatened the billboard owner with death threats.

This story and outcome is just sad in my opinion. If these people feel they are that threatened by a simple billboard and sign, they got some real issues besides questioning their faith. One would think these people could just shrug it off and move on, but to call themselves religious with a holy sky god that is all loving and they should represent that, just tells me they have some serious mental issues.

Good job religious people are peaceful and tolerant eh? Us filthy atheists have no morals at all. Look at all the cases where we threaten vicars and the like with death and dismemberment unless they stop worshipping.

The standard Xtian defence for this sort of thing is usually “they’re not real Christians”. Who are these real ones and why don’t they do something about the fake ones?
